I'm getting an 'Interface Not Supported' Error?

This error can be caused by a number of different issues. Try:

1. If GALSync Server worked previously try rebooting your server.

2. Do you have 'Logon With Local Profile' selected? If so, try clearing this option then stop and restart the GALSync Server service.

3. If you are configuring GALSync Server for the first time then this error could be caused by a lack of MAPI on your server. Try installing and configuring Outlook with a mailbox profile (use the admin mailbox you've configured in GALSync Server).

I am trying to configure GALSync Server but my 'Address List' drop-down menu is empty?

Try installing and configuring Outlook with a mailbox profile (use the admin mailbox you've configured in GALSync Server).

You can also just type in the address list you want to use without having to use the drop-down menu, for example 'Global Address List'.

Can I install GALSync Server on my BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES) or my Exchange Server?

Although GALSync Server can be installed on either your BlackBerry Enterprise Server or your Exchange Server the loading during a Sync can be quite heavy, so we would always advise you test this installation with one or two test users before you roll out to your entire user base.

In testing we have successfully synchronized over 15,000 entries and we have had reports of GAL address lists larger than this being successfully synchronized. However, we would always advise you to download the trial version of GALSync Server and test with your current infrastructure.

My 30-day trial period has run out...

GALSync Server will detect previous installations of itself and if you have exceeded the 30-day trial period since the software was first installed you may need to buy a new licence.

Your Installation Guide tells me I need 'Service Account' permissions with my Admin mailbox. How do I set 'Service Account' permissions?

Can I hide synchronised GAL Contacts from my Outlook Contacts folder?

In Outlook 2000 use the following instructions:

1. In Outlook navigate to your Contacts folder.
2. From the 'View' menu navigate to 'Current View' > 'Customize Current View...'
3. Click the Filter button.
4. Click on the Advanced tab.
5. Using the 'Field' button/drop-down menu select 'Frequently-used fields' > 'Categories'.
6. Change the 'Condition' drop-down menu from 'contains' to 'doesn't contain'.
7. Enter 'GAL' into the Value field (no apostrophes) and click the 'Add to List' button.
8. Click OK and then click OK again.

In Outlook 2003 use the following instructions:

1. In Outlook navigate to your Contacts folder.
2. From the 'View' menu navigate to 'Arrange By' > 'Custom...'
3. Click the Filter button.
4. Click on the Advanced tab.
5. Using the 'Field' button/drop-down menu select 'Frequently-used fields' > 'Categories'.
6. Change the 'Condition' drop-down menu from 'contains' to 'doesn't contain'.
7. Enter 'GAL' into the Value field (no apostrophes) and click the 'Add to List' button.
8. Click OK and then click OK again.

Can I upgrade from GALSync Desktop to GALSync Server? And if so, how much is it?

Yes! And you simply pay the difference between the current cost (as listed on our website) of your existing number of licences and the licence you want to upgrade to. For example, if you have already purchased 10 GALSync Desktop licences and you want to upgrade to a Bronze (100 user) GALSync Enterprise licence you simply pay the difference between the two.

Can I upgrade from one level of enterprise licence to another?

Yes! And again you simply pay the difference in the current cost (as listed on our website) between the two licences.
