Mobile TimeSync now comes with...UDP! UDP stands for 'User Datagram Protocol'. UDP/IP is a smaller, potentially faster though possibly less reliable IP protocol than TCP/IP. Most software on the internet, such as email clients and web browsers, uses TCP/IP which is a connection-orientated protocol - this means that when your TCP/IP software tries to talk to anything it will wait for an answer back. One of the key differences with UDP/IP is that it is a connection-less protocol - if your software uses UDP/IP it will just send data without checking whether it's being received. UDP is a potentially much faster protocol than TCP, so ideal for time synchronization. And as UDP is also a protocol with a much smaller overhead (it uses less bytes) it is also ideal for mobile networks where bandwidth is restricted or at a premium. So that is why we've added UDP to Mobile TimeSync (and we still support TCP of course). You can read more about UDP here at Wikipedia...
