Devices, Devices, Devices... Microsoft's release of push-email seems to be encouraging Windows Mobile into the mainstream and a whole host of manufacturers are releasing new Windows Mobile devices. Following on from the Motorola Q, Samsung have released their own 'BlackBerry beater' the Samsung i320. Read more (the Register)... Then we have the Sharp Willcom WS700SH, a Nokia Communicator look-a-like running Windows Mobile Pocket PC. Read more (the Register)... Meanwhile HTC have been busy moving their brand from the backroom into the open market with the launch of two HTC devices. For all those not already in the know, HTC is the real name behind a large number of PDAs on the market right now (ever since they produced the HTC Wallaby and O2 badged it as the XDA). The HTC MTeoR is the world's first Windows Mobile Smartphone device to have 3G. It should be available in Europe at end of July. Read more... Download HTC MTeoR brochure. The HTC TyTN is a Windows Mobile Pocket PC device with 3G (like the JASJAR) and again it should be available in Europe at the end of July. Read more... Download HTC TyTN brochure. And not to be left out, E-TEN have their latest Windows Mobile device the G500+. Download E-TEN G500+ brochure. But hang on...is that a PINK Windows Mobile Device?! Yes, not only is the QTek 8500 Smartphone the first Windows Mobile phone to be released in a clamshell format, it is also available in pink (as well as more traditional black). I visited a local restaurant a couple of months back and the waitress commented on my old QTek Smartphone saying that it was a 'bit of a brick' and I should consider buying something more 'modern'. When I showed her it was running Windows Mobile she just wasn't that impressed but now I have a QTek 8500 perhaps I should pay another visit... Anyway, we're sure to be seeing more devices hit the market in the next few months. Watch this space! |
